Blanzaguet est très ancien avec une église de
XII" siècle et le chateau Bartas de même age et ... il y aussi une citation dans la VII"siècle!(voir: Histoire>
Autour Blanzaguet
il y a un beau paysage (voir photo)avec plusieurs biotopes très interessantes: les causses, la vallée de la Dordogne.
C'est pourquoi l'avifaune a des caracteristiques

Blanzaguet is a small village in the community of Pinsac, dept. Lot.
It is situated in the valley of the Dordogne, opposite Lacave
and chateau Belcastel. The Dordogne - river broadens
here between the white cliffs on the south and the falaises
of Blanzaguet on the north.
In Blanzaguet
there is an old church (12th century) and a small castle, chateau Bartas (13th century or older); Blanzaguet
is even mentioned in literature of the 7th century! (see:

The area around Blanzaguet combines several
interesting habitats:
Open woodlands, mostly of oak
Agriculture on an extensive scale
The valley of the Dordogne
The causses of Martel and Gramat
are nearby
Due to the Causses some of the breeding birds are of
Mediterranean origin. This area lies for some species on the NW - edge of their
distribution in France. Part of the causses is dry
and barren, part is in use for agricultural purposes.
